KLK2

Description

The KLK2 (kallikrein related peptidase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

Kallikrein-2 is a protein produced in humans, encoded by the KLK2 gene. It is particularly linked to prostatic tissue.

Glandular kallikreins, including KLK2, have the ability to break down kininogen by cleaving specific bonds (Met-Lys and Arg-Ser). This process leads to the release of Lys-bradykinin, a molecule involved in various biological functions.

KLK2 is also known as KLK2A2, hGK-1, hK2.
