KLF16

Description

The KLF16 (KLF transcription factor 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

KLF16 acts as a transcription factor, specifically binding to GC and GT boxes within DNA sequences. It possesses the ability to displace Sp1 and Sp3 proteins from these binding sites, potentially influencing gene expression. Additionally, KLF16 is implicated in modulating dopaminergic transmission within the brain, although the exact mechanisms are currently under investigation.

KLF16 is also known as BTEB4, DRRF, NSLP2.
