KLF10
Description
The KLF10 (KLF transcription factor 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.
KLF10 is a protein encoded by the KLF10 gene in humans. It belongs to the Kruppel-like factor family of proteins.
KLF10 is a transcriptional repressor that binds to the DNA sequence 5'-GGTGTG-3'. It plays a role in regulating the circadian clock by binding to the GC box in the promoter of the core clock component ARTNL/BMAL1 and repressing its transcription. KLF10 also regulates the circadian expression of genes involved in lipid, glucose, and glycogen metabolism in the liver. It represses the expression of PCK2, a key enzyme in gluconeogenesis, and may be involved in cell cycle regulation.
KLF10 is also known as EGR-alpha, EGRA, TIEG, TIEG1.
