KBTBD8
Description
The KBTBD8 (kelch repeat and BTB domain containing 8) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.
KBTBD8 acts as a substrate-specific adapter in a BCR (BTB-CUL3-RBX1) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, regulating neural crest specification. This complex monoubiquitinates NOLC1 and TCOF1, promoting the formation of a NOLC1-TCOF1 complex. This complex acts as a platform connecting RNA polymerase I to ribosomal processing and modification enzymes, ultimately remodeling the translational program in differentiating cells to favor neural crest specification.
KBTBD8 is also known as TA-KRP, TAKRP.
