KBTBD6

Description

The KBTBD6 (kelch repeat and BTB domain containing 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

KBTBD6 is a component of the CUL3(KBTBD6/7) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, which acts as a substrate adapter for the RAC1 guanine exchange factor (GEF) TIAM1. This complex mediates the 'Lys-48' ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of TIAM1. By regulating this ubiquitination process, KBTBD6 controls RAC1 signal transduction and downstream biological processes, including cytoskeletal organization, cell migration, and cell proliferation. The ubiquitination of TIAM1 requires the membrane-associated protein GABARAP, which may locally restrict the activity of the complex.
