KBTBD2
Description
The KBTBD2 (kelch repeat and BTB domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.
KBTBD2 acts as a substrate-specific adapter in the BCR (BTB-CUL3-RBX1) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. This complex plays a crucial role in regulating insulin signaling by controlling the levels of PIK3R1/p85alpha in adipocytes. KBTBD2 targets PIK3R1, a key regulatory subunit of PI3K, for degradation through ubiquitination. This process involves attaching a chain of ubiquitin molecules to PIK3R1, ultimately leading to its breakdown by the proteasome.
KBTBD2 is also known as BKLHD1.
