Description

The ISYNA1 (inositol-3-phosphate synthase 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

ISyna1 is a key enzyme in the myo-inositol biosynthesis pathway. It catalyzes the conversion of glucose 6-phosphate to 1-myo-inositol 1-phosphate in a NAD-dependent manner. This reaction is the rate-limiting step in the synthesis of all inositol-containing compounds.

ISYNA1 is also known as INO1, INOS, IPS, IPS 1, IPS-1.
