TUBB1

Description

The TUBB1 (tubulin beta 1 class VI) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

TUBB1 is a gene that codes for the protein Tubulin beta-1 chain in humans.

Tubulin beta-1 chain, encoded by the TUBB1 gene, is a crucial component of microtubules, cylindrical structures essential for cell function. Microtubules are formed by the assembly of alpha- and beta-tubulin heterodimers, which add to the microtubule end in a GTP-bound state, creating a stabilizing cap. Below the cap, tubulin dimers transition to a GDP-bound state due to the GTPase activity of alpha-tubulin.

TUBB1 is also known as MACTHC1.
