IRF2BP2
Description
The IRF2BP2 (interferon regulatory factor 2 binding protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
IRF2BP2 is a protein that is encoded by the IRF2BP2 gene in humans. It is an interferon regulatory factor-2 (IRF2) binding protein that interacts with the C-terminal transcriptional repression domain of IRF2. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode distinct isoforms.
IRF2BP2 acts as a transcriptional corepressor in an IRF2-dependent manner, but this repression is not mediated by histone deacetylase activities. It represses the NFAT1-dependent transactivation of NFAT-responsive promoters. Conversely, it acts as a coactivator of VEGFA expression in cardiac and skeletal muscles. IRF2BP2 also plays a role in immature B-cell differentiation.
IRF2BP2 is also known as CVID14.
