UNC45A

Description

The UNC45A (unc-45 myosin chaperone A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

The UNC45A gene in humans encodes the protein unc-45 homolog A.

UNC45A acts as a co-chaperone for HSP90, preventing the stimulation of HSP90AB1 ATPase activity by AHSA1. It promotes PGR function in the cell and may be involved in proper myosin folding. UNC45A is essential for normal cell proliferation, myotube formation, and myosin accumulation during muscle cell development. It may also play a role in erythropoiesis in spleen stroma cells.

UNC45A is also known as GC-UNC45, GCUNC-45, GCUNC45, IRO039700, OOHE, SMAP-1, SMAP1, UNC-45A.
