CCDC39

Description

The CCDC39 (coiled-coil domain 39 molecular ruler complex subunit) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

CCDC39 is essential for the assembly of the dynein regulatory complex (DRC) and the inner dynein arm (IDA) complexes, which are crucial for regulating ciliary beat and hence motility in cilia and flagella. It is suggested that CCDC39, in cooperation with CCDC40, acts as a molecular ruler, dictating the 96 nanometer (nm) repeat length and arrangement of components within cilia and flagella. However, CCDC39 is not required for the assembly of outer dynein arm complexes.

CCDC39 is also known as CFAP59, CILD14, FAP59.
