CCBE1 | Collagen And Calcium Binding EGF Domains 1

Description

The CCBE1 (collagen and calcium binding EGF domains 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

The CCBE1 gene provides instructions for making a protein that resides in the extracellular matrix, the network of proteins and molecules surrounding cells. This protein is vital for the development of the lymphatic system, a network of vessels responsible for transporting lymph fluid and immune cells throughout the body. Specifically, the CCBE1 protein guides the maturation and movement of immature lymphatic cells called lymphangioblasts, which eventually form the lining of lymphatic vessels.

Plays a crucial role in the development of the lymphatic system during embryonic development. It facilitates the formation of new lymphatic vessels (lymphangioblasts) by promoting their budding from venous endothelium and subsequent sprouting.

CCBE1 is also known as HKLLS1.
