IL1F10

Description

The IL1F10 (interleukin 1 family member 10) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

Interleukin-1 family member 10 (IL1F10) is a protein encoded by the IL1F10 gene in humans. It belongs to the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This gene, along with eight other interleukin 1 family genes, forms a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. IL1F10 is believed to participate in a network of interleukin 1 family members to regulate adaptive and innate immune responses. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been reported.

IL1F10 is an immunomodulatory cytokine that does not induce cytokine production on its own. However, it reduces IL22 and IL17A production by T-cells in response to heat-killed Candida albicans. It also reduces IL36G-induced production of IL8 by peripheral blood mononuclear cells, while increasing IL6 production by dendritic cells stimulated by bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS). IL1F10 is a ligand for IL-36R/IL1RL2.

IL1F10 is also known as FIL1-theta, FKSG75, IL-1HY2, IL-38, IL1-theta, IL1HY2.
