IGLL5
Description
The IGLL5 (immunoglobulin lambda like polypeptide 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.
The IGLL5 gene encodes a protein called immunoglobulin lambda-like polypeptide 5. This protein is part of the immunoglobulin lambda family, but it doesn't need somatic rearrangement for expression. The first exon of the IGLL5 gene is different from immunoglobulin variable genes, while the second and third exons are similar to immunoglobulin lambda joining 1 and immunoglobulin lambda constant 1 gene segments. Alternative splicing can create multiple versions of the IGLL5 protein.
IGLL5 is also known as IGL, IGLV, VL-MAR.
