IFNE
Description
The IFNE (interferon epsilon) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.
Interferon epsilon (IFN-ε) plays a crucial role in maintaining baseline levels of genes regulated by interferons, including 2'-5'-oligoadenylate synthetase, IRF7, and ISG15, within the female reproductive system. It directly contributes to defense against viral and bacterial infections in the genital area.
IFNE is also known as IFN-E, IFNE1, IFNT1, INFE1, PRO655.
