ID1

Description

The ID1 (inhibitor of DNA binding 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

ID-1 is a protein encoded by the ID1 gene in humans. It is a helix-loop-helix (HLH) protein that forms heterodimers with basic HLH transcription factors, inhibiting their DNA binding and transcriptional activation. This protein lacks DNA binding activity and is involved in cell growth, senescence, and differentiation. It interacts with MyoD, E proteins, CASK, and other HLH proteins. ID-1 can mark endothelial progenitor cells, which are essential for tumor growth and angiogenesis. Targeting ID-1 can reduce tumor growth.

ID1 is also known as ID, bHLHb24.
