HNRNPM

Description

The HNRNPM (heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein M) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

HNRNPM is a pre-mRNA binding protein that plays a role in splicing. It binds strongly to poly(G) and poly(U) RNA sequences in vitro. In Kupffer cells, it acts as a receptor for carcinoembryonic antigen, triggering a signaling cascade that leads to tyrosine phosphorylation of proteins and the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1 alpha, IL-6, IL-10, and tumor necrosis factor alpha.

HNRNPM is also known as CEAR, HNRNPM4, HNRPM, HNRPM4, HTGR1, NAGR1, hnRNP M.
