HEYL

Description

The HEYL (hes related family bHLH transcription factor with YRPW motif like) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

HEYL is a gene that encodes a protein belonging to the hairy and enhancer of split-related (HESR) family of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH)-type transcription factors. The protein contains a conserved bHLH and orange domain, but its YRPW motif is distinct from other HESR family members. It is believed to be involved in Notch signaling and cell fate decisions. Alternative splicing of HEYL transcripts has been observed, but their functional significance remains unclear.

HEYL is also known as HESR3, HEY3, HRT3, bHLHb33.
