GREM2

Description

The GREM2 (gremlin 2, DAN family BMP antagonist) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

GREM2 is a cytokine that blocks the activity of BMP2 and BMP4 in a dose-dependent manner, influencing signaling by the BMP family. This function contributes to the regulation of embryonic development through BMP family members. It also counters the suppression of progesterone production in granulosa cells caused by BMP4.

GREM2 is also known as CKTSF1B2, DAND3, PRDC, STHAG9.
