GPR4

Description

The GPR4 (G protein-coupled receptor 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

G-protein coupled receptor 4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the GPR4 gene.

GPR4 is a proton-sensing G-protein coupled receptor that interacts with various intracellular signaling pathways, including GNAS/cAMP, GNAQ/phospholipase C (PLC), and GNA12/GNA13/Rho pathways. Activation of GPR4 by acidosis promotes increased paracellular gap formation and permeability in vascular endothelial cells through the GNA12/GNA13/Rho GTPase signaling pathway. It may also play a role in mediating central respiratory sensitivity to CO2H+ in the brain.

GPR4 is also known as GPR6C.l.
