GNAI2

Description

The GNAI2 (G protein subunit alpha i2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

The GNAI2 gene in humans encodes the protein Guanine nucleotide-binding protein G(i), alpha-2 subunit.

GNAI2 encodes a protein involved in various transmembrane signaling pathways, acting as a modulator or transducer. It plays a role in hormonal regulation of adenylate cyclase, inhibiting the cyclase in response to beta-adrenergic stimuli. Additionally, it may contribute to cell division.

GNAI2 is also known as GIP, GNAI2B, HG1C, H_LUCA15.1, H_LUCA16.1.
