GMFB

Description

The GMFB (glia maturation factor beta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

Glia maturation factor is a neurotrophic factor involved in various processes within the nervous system, including its development, the formation of new blood vessels (angiogenesis), and immune responses. In humans, the GMFB gene encodes for the glia maturation factor beta protein. Structural studies of the mouse version of this protein, using both X-ray crystallography and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), have revealed similarities and key differences with a protein domain called ADF-H (actin depolymerization factor homology). These findings provide valuable insights for further research into the functions of this protein family.

GMFB is also known as GMF.
