GH2
Description
The GH2 (growth hormone 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.
GH2 can refer to the human gene Growth Hormone 2, also known as Growth hormone variant (GH-V) or Placenta-specific growth hormone.
GH2, also known as Growth hormone variant (GH-V) or Placenta-specific growth hormone, plays a critical role in regulating growth. Its primary function is to stimulate the production of IGF-1 (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1) by the liver and other tissues, which in turn promotes body growth. Additionally, GH2 stimulates both the differentiation and proliferation of myoblasts, the precursor cells of muscle fibers. Furthermore, it enhances amino acid uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues.
GH2 is also known as GH-V, GHB2, GHL, GHV, hGH-V.
