GALNT18
Description
The GALNT18 (polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 18) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
GALNT18 is responsible for the first step in the production of O-linked oligosaccharides. It adds an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine (GalNAc) sugar molecule to a serine or threonine amino acid on a protein, using UDP-GalNAc as a source of the sugar.
GALNT18 is also known as GALNACT18, GALNT15, GALNTL4, GalNAc-T15, GalNAc-T18.
