FRMD8

Description

The FRMD8 (FERM domain containing 8) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

FRMD8 promotes the stability of iRhom1/RHBDF1 and iRhom2/RHBDF2 on the cell surface by preventing their degradation through the endolysosomal pathway. This action influences ADAM17-mediated shedding of various factors like TNF, amphiregulin, HBEGF, and TGFA from the cell surface. Furthermore, FRMD8 negatively regulates Wnt signaling, potentially by hindering the association of AXIN1 with LRP6.

FRMD8 is also known as FKSG44, iTAP.
