FAM107A

Description

The FAM107A (family with sequence similarity 107 member A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

FAM107A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FAM107A gene.

FAM107A is a stress-inducible protein that binds to actin filaments and regulates their dynamics, playing a role in synaptic function, cognitive processes, and cell migration. It promotes the polymerization of globular actin into F-actin, stabilizes and bundles F-actin, and regulates neurite outgrowth. FAM107A is involved in both actin and microtubule cytoskeleton organization, and negatively regulates focal adhesion assembly. It also plays a role in cell cycle progression and proliferation by stimulating ubiquitination and degradation of NF-kappa-B, which may be relevant for tumor development.

FAM107A is also known as DRR1, TU3A.
