F8A2

Description

The F8A2 (coagulation factor VIII associated 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

F8A2 plays a role in the movement of early endosomes, small compartments within cells that sort and transport materials. It acts as a mediator, connecting the RAB5A protein with Huntingtin (HTT), another protein involved in vesicle trafficking. This connection leads to the formation of a complex (HTT-F8A1/F8A2/F8A3-RAB5A) that influences how early endosomes interact with the cell's internal scaffolding, actin filaments and microtubules. This complex ultimately reduces the movement of endosomes by promoting their interaction with actin filaments and decreasing their interaction with microtubules.

F8A2 is also known as HAP40.
