ERV3-1

Description

The ERV3-1 (endogenous retrovirus group 3 member 1, envelope) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

ERV3-1, an endogenous retroviral envelope protein, has lost its original fusogenic properties. It has been shown to inhibit cell growth in vitro by decreasing the expression of cyclin B1 and increasing the expression of p21. These findings suggest that ERV3-1 may play a role in cell cycle regulation.

ERV3-1 is also known as ERV-R, ERV3, ERVR, HERV-R, HERVR, envR.
