ERN2

Description

The ERN2 (endoplasmic reticulum to nucleus signaling 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

ERN2 induces translational repression by cleaving 28S ribosomal RNA in response to ER stress. It promotes apoptosis. Unlike related proteins, ERN2 does not seem to play a role in the unfolded protein response.

ERN2 is also known as IRE1-BETA, IRE1b, IRE2p, hIRE2p.
