EPC1

Description

The EPC1 (enhancer of polycomb homolog 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

EPC1 (Enhancer of polycomb homolog 1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EPC1 gene.

EPC1 is a component of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase (HAT) complex, which is involved in the activation of gene transcription by acetylating histones H4 and H2A. The NuA4 complex also plays a crucial role in repairing DNA double-strand breaks by promoting homologous recombination. Additionally, it is essential for spermatid development through histone acetylation, which facilitates histone replacement during the transition from round to elongating spermatids. Within the NuA4 complex, EPC1 is required for the recruitment of MBTD1.

EPC1 is also known as Epl1.
