EHD2

Description

The EHD2 (EH domain containing 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

EH-domain containing 2, also known as EHD2, is a human gene belonging to the EHD protein family.

EHD2 is an ATP- and membrane-binding protein that controls membrane reorganization and tubulation upon ATP hydrolysis. It plays a role in membrane trafficking between the plasma membrane and endosomes, is important for internalization of GLUT4, and is required for fusion of myoblasts to skeletal muscle myotubes. It is also required for the normal translocation of FER1L5 to the plasma membrane. EHD2 regulates the equilibrium between cell surface-associated and cell surface-dissociated caveolae by constraining caveolae at the cell membrane.

EHD2 is also known as PAST2.
