EEF1G
Description
The EEF1G (eukaryotic translation elongation factor 1 gamma) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.
The EEF1G gene in humans produces elongation factor 1-gamma, a protein that is part of the elongation factor-1 complex. This complex is essential for delivering aminoacyl tRNAs to the ribosome during protein synthesis. EF-1-gamma contains a glutathione transferase domain at its N-terminus, which may be involved in controlling the formation of multi-protein complexes that include this elongation factor and aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases.
EF-1-gamma likely contributes to attaching the EF-1 complex to other cellular structures.
EEF1G is also known as EF1G, GIG35.
