EBF2

Description

The EBF2 (EBF transcription factor 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

EBF2 is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in regulating osteoclast differentiation by activating the decoy receptor TNFRSF11B in osteoblasts. This receptor acts as a decoy for RANKL, a key signaling molecule involved in osteoclast formation. EBF2 cooperates with the Wnt-responsive LEF1/CTNNB1 pathway to achieve this regulation. It recognizes variations of the palindromic sequence 5'-ATTCCCNNGGGAATT-3' during its function.

EBF2 is also known as COE2, EBF-2, O/E-3, OE-3.
