DTYMK

Description

The DTYMK (deoxythymidylate kinase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

The DTYMK gene encodes the human enzyme thymidylate kinase, also known as deoxythymidylate kinase or dTMP kinase. This enzyme belongs to the thymidylate kinase family of proteins.

DTYMK catalyzes the phosphorylation of thymidine monophosphate (dTMP) to thymidine diphosphate (dTDP), the immediate precursor for the DNA building block dTTP, using ATP as the preferred phosphoryl donor in the presence of Mg(2+).

DTYMK is also known as CDC8, CONPM, PP3731, TMPK, TYMK.
