DTX2

Description

The DTX2 (deltex E3 ubiquitin ligase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

DTX2, also known as Protein deltex-2 or E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase DTX2, is an enzyme encoded by the DTX2 gene in humans. It functions as a ubiquitin E3 ligase in conjunction with the E2 enzyme UBCH5A.

DTX2 plays a crucial role in regulating the Notch signaling pathway, which is essential for cell-to-cell communication and determining cell fate. Depending on the developmental stage and cellular context, DTX2 can act as both a positive and negative regulator of Notch signaling. It contributes to the inhibition of neural development by potentially suppressing the transcriptional activity of the MATCH1 protein, which is involved in Notch signaling. DTX2 exhibits ubiquitin ligase activity in laboratory settings, indicating its potential to regulate the Notch pathway through protein degradation.

DTX2 is also known as RNF58.
