Dyslexia (DYS-leck-see-uh) is a learning disorder that affects the brain's ability to process written language. Dyslexia makes it difficult for people to read, write, spell, and understand written information. Dyslexia is not a sign of low intelligence. People with dyslexia often have average or above-average intelligence.

Dyslexia can be associated with other learning disorders, including:
- Dyscalculia (difficulty with math)
- Dysgraphia (difficulty with writing)
- ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
