DPH7

Description

The DPH7 (diphthamide biosynthesis 7) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

DPH7 catalyzes the removal of a methyl group from diphthine methyl ester, producing diphthine. Diphthine is an essential intermediate in the biosynthesis of diphthamide, a unique post-translational modification of histidine found in translation elongation factor 2 (EEF2). Diphthamide is the target for ADP-ribosylation by diphtheria toxin and Pseudomonas exotoxin A (Eta), inhibiting protein synthesis.

DPH7 is also known as C9orf112, RRT2, WDR85.
