DNAJC24

Description

The DNAJC24 (DnaJ heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member C24) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

DNAJC24 enhances the activity of Hsp70 chaperones, particularly when bound to iron. This iron-bound form acts as an electron carrier. It is also involved in the production of diphthamide, a modification on the translation factor EEF2. Diphthamide makes EEF2 susceptible to inactivation by toxins like diphtheria toxin and Pseudomonas exotoxin A.

DNAJC24 is also known as DPH4, JJJ3, ZCSL3.
