DNAJC13

Description

The DNAJC13 (DnaJ heat shock protein family (Hsp40) member C13) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

DNAJ (Hsp40) homolog, subfamily C, member 13, also known as DNAJC13, is a human gene.

DNAJC13 plays a role in membrane trafficking within early endosomes, including the transport of transferrin from early endosomes to recycling endosomes and the movement of EGF and EGFR from early to late endosomes, which is associated with their degradation (PubMed:18256511, PubMed:18307993). It is also involved in regulating endosomal membrane tubulation and controlling the movement of SNX1 on the endosomal membrane. Through its interaction with WASHC2, DNAJC13 might connect the WASH complex to the retromer SNX-BAR subcomplex (PubMed:24643499).

DNAJC13 is also known as PARK21, RME8.
