DLGAP5

Description

The DLGAP5 (DLG associated protein 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

DLGAP5, also known as DAP-5, DLG7, or HURP, is a protein encoded by the DLGAP5 gene. It functions as a kinetochore protein, stabilizing microtubules near chromosomes. DLGAP5 regulates spindle dynamics, promotes interkinetochore tension, and facilitates efficient kinetochore capture. It is part of a Ran-dependent complex and its stabilization within cells is achieved through phosphorylation by Aurora A kinase. DLGAP5 expression is observed in cancer and stem cells.

DLGAP5 is also known as DLG7, HURP.
