DIABLO
Diablo: A Comprehensive Guide
Description
Diablo, also known as Candida albicans, is a type of fungus that is commonly found in the human body. It is a dimorphic fungus, meaning that it can exist in both yeast and hyphal forms. In its yeast form, Diablo is a single-celled organism that resembles a small, oval-shaped bead. In its hyphal form, Diablo forms long, branching filaments that can penetrate tissue.
Diablo is a commensal organism, meaning that it normally lives in the body without causing any symptoms. However, in certain circumstances, Diablo can become pathogenic and cause a variety of infections, known as candidiasis.
Associated Diseases
Diablo is the most common cause of candidiasis, which is a fungal infection that can affect various parts of the body, including:
- Oral candidiasis (thrush): A white or cream-colored coating on the tongue and inside of the mouth.
- Esophageal candidiasis: A fungal infection of the esophagus, which can cause difficulty swallowing and pain.
- Vulvovaginal candidiasis (yeast infection): A fungal infection of the vagina and vulva, which can cause itching, burning, and discharge.
- Candidal diaper rash: A fungal infection of the skin in the diaper area of infants and toddlers.
- Invasive candidiasis: A serious infection that can affect the bloodstream, heart, brain, and other organs.
