RPL21

Description

The RPL21 (ribosomal protein L21) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

The RPL21 gene encodes a protein that is part of the large (60S) subunit of the ribosome, the cellular machinery responsible for protein synthesis. Mutations in this gene can cause Hypotrichosis simplex of the scalp, a condition characterized by hair loss.

RPL21 is a component of the large ribosomal subunit, which is essential for protein synthesis in the cell.

RPL21 is also known as HYPT12, L21, eL21.
