DDX47

Description

The DDX47 (DEAD-box helicase 47) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

DDX47 is an enzyme that belongs to the DEAD box protein family. These proteins are characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) and are thought to be RNA helicases involved in various cellular processes, including translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, and ribosome and spliceosome assembly. DDX47 can shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm and has RNA-independent ATPase activity. Two different isoforms of DDX47 have been identified.

DDX47 is required for efficient ribosome biogenesis, may play a role in mRNA splicing, and is involved in apoptosis.

DDX47 is also known as E4-DBP, HQ0256, MSTP162, RRP3.
