DAND5

Description

The DAND5 (DAN domain BMP antagonist family member 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

DAND5 is believed to participate in the proper development of the left-right body axis. It potentially inhibits the signaling pathways of NODAL and BMP4, key developmental signaling molecules. Proteins containing cystine knots, like DAND5, are known to have vital functions during the processes of embryonic development, organ formation, tissue growth, and cell differentiation.

DAND5 is also known as CER2, CERL2, CKTSF1B3, COCO, CRL2, DANTE, GREM3, SP1.
