CUX2

Description

The CUX2 (cut like homeobox 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

CUX2 is a transcription factor that plays a crucial role in the regulation of neuronal development in the brain. It controls the proliferation and differentiation of neurons, and specifically regulates the growth and branching of dendrites, the formation of dendritic spines, and the formation of synapses in cortical layers II-III. CUX2 achieves this by binding to specific sequences of DNA.

CUX2 is also known as CDP2, CUTL2, DEE67, EIEE67.
