CMTM4
Description
The CMTM4 (CKLF like MARVEL transmembrane domain containing 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
CMTM4 serves as a backup for CMTM6 in controlling the presence of PD-L1/CD274 on the cell surface. PD-L1/CD274 is an important immune checkpoint molecule that helps maintain tolerance to the body's own tissues and prevents the immune system from attacking tumors. CMTM4 might protect PD-L1/CD274 from being marked for destruction by preventing its polyubiquitination.
CMTM4 is also known as CKLFSF4.
