CLIC6


Description

The CLIC6 (chloride intracellular channel 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 21.

CLIC6, the gene encoding Chloride intracellular channel protein 6, is part of a large triplicated region found on chromosomes 1, 6, and 21. This protein forms chloride-selective ion channels regulated by redox and pH. It is primarily expressed in the plasma membrane of lung epithelial cells. CLIC6 interacts with Dopamine receptor D3.

CLIC6 can integrate into membranes and form chloride ion channels, suggesting a potential role in regulating chloride transport, particularly in cells responsible for water secretion.

CLIC6 is also known as CLIC1L.
