CKAP2

Description

The CKAP2 (cytoskeleton associated protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 13.

CKAP2 (Cytoskeleton-associated protein 2) is a human protein encoded by the CKAP2 gene. Also known as LB1, CKAP2 is involved in cell division (mitosis). It is highly active in the testes, thymus, and certain types of B-cell lymphomas. The protein has 683 amino acids and lacks similarity to known sequences. CKAP2 localizes to the cytoplasm and associates with cytoskeletal fibers. The CKAP2 gene resides on chromosome 13q14, a region frequently altered in various cancers. Deletions in this region have been linked to multiple myeloma, prostate cancer, head and neck cancer, B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and over half of cases of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

CKAP2 is also known as LB1, TMAP, se20-10.
