CIPC

Description

The CIPC (CLOCK interacting pacemaker) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

CIPC is an abbreviation that can refer to several things.

CIPC is a transcriptional repressor that may negatively regulate the activity of the CLOCK-BMAL1 complex, a key component of the circadian clock. It may also promote phosphorylation of CLOCK, a process regulated by BMAL1. However, the biological significance of these observations is unclear as animal studies have shown that CIPC is not essential for normal circadian rhythms.

CIPC is also known as KIAA1737.
