CEP70

Description

The CEP70 (centrosomal protein 70) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

CEP70 is a protein encoded by the CEP70 gene in humans. It interacts with gamma-tubulin through its coiled coil domains, allowing it to localize to the centrosome. CEP70 plays a role in organizing microtubules during interphase and is essential for proper spindle organization and orientation during cell division.

CEP70 is involved in organizing both existing and newly formed microtubules during the interphase stage of the cell cycle. During cell division (mitosis), CEP70 is essential for the proper arrangement and alignment of the mitotic spindle, a structure crucial for separating chromosomes.

CEP70 is also known as BITE.
